Carroll is a small village on the Oxley Highway, 20 kilometres east of Gunnedah. Carroll is situated on the banks of The Namoi River which runs approximately parallel to the highway. Carroll is located 10 minutes from Lake Keepit on the Oxley Highway. The surrounding area is part of the Liverpool Plains region. The district produces cotton, wheat, other grains, fat lambs and beef cattle. Carroll Cotton is a local cotton gin that provides growers of the upper Namoi valley cotton processing services. Carroll Cotton was established in September 1995. Facilities include a general shop, fuel outlet, public toilets and picnic areas. Carroll is an Aboriginal word for 'forked tree'. The Olympic eventing horses, Kibah Tic-Tic, a noted dual gold medal winner and Kibah Sandstone (gold medalist in team and individual 1992, gold 2000) were bred on Kibah, a property close to the village. ...
