Nested in the heart of the beautiful Tamar Valley in Tasmania, The Blue House is a traditional fishermans cottage just 50 m from the water. The house was renovated in December 2013 to provide comfortable stylish accommodation with eco credentials. The Blue House can accommodate up to six guests in three bedrooms: two with double beds and one with two single beds. The main loft bedroom is upstairs and has water views. There is a separate toilet, bathroom with separate bath and shower and a fully equipped kitchen. The house is set in an attractive garden with a gas barbecue and outdoor setting for al fresco dining. Just a 30-minute drive from the Tasmania's second city, Launcestion, Swan Point is located midway up the Tamar River estuary and is an ideal base for exploring the numerous boutique vineyards of the valley. There are beautiful riverside walks along the river bank and willife and birdlife abounds. The popular sandy shore of Paper Beach provides a safe swimming spot for children and opportunity to wet a line is at your doorstep. It's time to experience Australia's English heritage. This thriving village is home to a large number of English style estates, a picture postcard historic Church and country railway station, both of which could have been lifted straight from an Agatha Christie film set. This village personifies the 'little England' name tag so often associated with the Southern Highlands. In fact it was named after its English counterpart because of the lush green of the countryside and the profusion of deciduous trees brought to Australia by the early settlers is indeed very 'English'. The architecture in this village varies from quaint weatherboards and modern homes through to 100-year-old stone churches and vast estate mansions. Banjo's Run Winery and Vineyard is a multi award winning, family owned and operated vineyard, where the grapes are hand picked to ensure the finest quality grapes are used to create the wines. The Southern Highlands is a premier growing area producing some of the finest wines in Australia. All wines are available to purchase on their web site, or at the cellar door and a small selection is available at the Southern Highlands Information Centre in Mittagong. They welcome group bookings and can accommodate these on weekends and other specified days throughout the week as long as you book in advance. They have a very relaxed atmosphere in their vineyard and cellar door, they like to keep it casual and relaxed and they hope that you do too....
