Pimpara Lake Stationstay

Pimpara Lake Station, Milparinka NSW 2880
Pimpara Lake Station is a 44,000 hectare sheep and cattle property located west of the Silver City Highway, 200 kilometres north of Broken Hill. Since purchasing the property in 1980 the owners, Jon and Ruth Sandow, have actively engaged in sustainable water and pasture conservation practices that support livestock production and, at the same time, enhance habitat for wildlife, including forty man-made watering points. Self-guided or guided property tours are designed to demonstrate these conservation activities and provide many opportunities for observing and photographing the wildlife and natural landscapes. Night skies are often clear and enable serious star watching and photography. Accommodation options include secluded campsites (ideal for families and bird-watchers), and self-catering shearers' quarters for up to twelve guests (linen can be provided upon request). The Homestead B and B enables closer interaction between guests and Pimpara Lake's owners, with home-style meals served in the homestead dining room. ...

Milparinka Heritage Precinct

Loftus Street, Milparinka NSW 2880
The Milparinka Heritage Precinct is a complete surprise. A visit to Corner Country is not complete until this Precinct has been explored. It's a beautiful place in the midst of a desert landscape where the spirit of the past merges with the present. Comprising a collection of colonial buildings the Precinct has no rival in Outback New South Wales. The "hub" of the Precinct is the Milparinka Visitor Information Centre where friendly Visiting Volunteer staff provide local information and service in a museum and gallery-like atmosphere. The adjacent Courthouse houses local history and a substantial collection of family history research material, whilst the adjoining cells provide an insight into the region's remarkable mining heritage. The pastoral heritage and natural history of the area are also represented in displays and public gardens surrounding the precinct. A small entry fee is payable which helps to maintain the heritage buildings of the community. ...
