Drift from rock to rock and investigate every nook and cranny, with morays hiding in the most unexpected places. The beauty of this site is in watching the smaller species. Porcupine fish abound here and wobbegongs and macro life inhabit the reef.

Lying close to shore off Fingal Head in the Pacific Ocean, Cook Island is an accessible and appealing dive site on the Gold Coast. Hard and soft corals cover the bottom in some areas; in others boulders form walls and caves descending to the sandy sea floor. You'll find an interesting mix of reef and pelagic fish; pufferfish, gropers, surgeonfish, anemonefish, leatherjackets, parrotfish, trevally, bullseyes and sweetlips. Macro-photographers will find plenty of subjects. Stingrays, turtles, wobbegongs and blind sharks, Leopard sharks abound in summer.

Nine Mile Reef off Tweed Heads on the Gold Coast is known as a "sharky" spot by the locals. Year-round residents include wobbegongs, blind sharks, bronze whalers with leopard sharks in summer; grey nurse sharks in winter; and occasional hammerheads and whale sharks. Reef fish are ever-present, and pelagic fish sometimes circle in large numbers. Turtles, stingrays, eagle-rays are regulars as well as the occasional manta-ray. The rocky reef here drops from 10-30 metres and is covered with numerous corals.

Snapper Rocks is a small rocky outcrop on the northern side of Point Danger at the southern end of Rainbow Bay on the Gold Coast. Snapper is a point break forming the first part of the man-made Superbank which extends from Snapper Rocks Point, through Rainbow Bay, Greenmount Point, Coolangatta Beach, and Kirra, for a distance of around two kilometres. The Superbank is now renowned as one of the most consistent breaks in Queensland and plays host to the annual World Surf Leagues’ Quiksilver and Roxy Pros. Multiple barrel sections can now occur at any point along this length. While there are a number of site that can be dived in the Tweed River, the best site is the rocky wall adjacent to the harbour near the river mouth. This rocky wall forms a habitat for a wide variety of marine life, including rock cods, moray eels, octopus, cuttlefish, stripeys, globefish, lionfish, crabs, shrimps and also nudibranchs. The Tweed River is also a spot where divers can see muck critters, such as stonefish, pineapplefish, scorpionfish, ghost pipefish and even frogfish. With a maximum depth of 12 metres the Tweed River is a site that all divers can enjoy, but being tidal it is best dived on the high tide for calm water and good visibility....
