Shaws Road Winery in the western Yarra Valley is a small family-owned winery punching above its weight ? producing premium wine with the help of family, friends and like-minded wine buffs who, after 30 years, have learned how to knock out a good wine. With the Kinglake Ranges offering a dramatic backdrop, the winery buildings are set in beautiful gardens in the rolling hills of Arthurs Creek, just 45 minutes from the Melbourne CBD. Kick back and relax on the enclosed verandah and enjoy a home-style meal while you sample the wines. All wine tastings are free and the family is happy to give you a tour of the cellars. You can pat the dogs, check out the chickens and wander around the beautiful gardens ? all with a glass of wine in your hand. This is a real meet-the-winemaker experience not to be missed.
