The Bunya Mountains Community Markets are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9am to 2pm. Enjoy over 30 market stalls with locally grown produce, homemade products, art and craft. Located within the iconic Bunya Mountains National Park the markets make for a fantastic day out for the entire family. Some of the ?must-tries? include a variety of food made with the local Bunya nuts, such as the Bunya burgers, beef and Bunya pies, scones, carrot cake and the famous Bunya nut icecream. The Mt Kiangarow track leads to the summit the Bunya Mountains' highest peak. The track climbs gradually, winding around the mountain and leads to an avenue of grasstrees and a natural lookout giving views over the park and to the horizon. This walk is ideal for watching the sun set over the plains below; remember to take a torch for the return trip back to your car or camp....

The park has three camping areas, Dandabah, Westcott and Burtons Well, catering for a range of camping experiences from small walk-in tent sites, to open areas suitable for larger groups and vehicles. All roads to the Bunya Mountains are steep, narrow and winding. The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that all access roads are unsuitable for travel by long and/or heavy vehicles. Discretion is urged with respect to caravans, large motorhomes and large buses. No fuel is available on the mountain. Camping permits are required and fees apply. You must obtain your permit before setting up camp. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. Permits are not available on site and must be booked prior to your visit. Bookings should be made up to 12 months in advance for school holidays, long weekends and large groups. ...

Westcott to Cherry Plain Track

The Westcott to Cherry Plain track follows the cliff-line on the western side of the Bunya Mountains. Start your walk at the Westcott picnic area to weave in and out of rainforest, discovering views over remnants of bottletree scrubs, the township of Bell and onto the plains beyond. The track meets the road at Cherry Plain. Have someone meet you with a car when you reach the road, or return back along the same track. For a shorter return journey walk back along the road (1.8 kilometres) with care....

Paradise to Westcott

The Paradise to Westcott track follows part of the cliff-line on the Bunya Mountains' western side with Westcliff lookout providing clear views over the open plains of the Darling Downs. Shortly after entering the rainforest opposite the Paradise car park, the track passes through Little Pocket, one of the small natural clearings or 'balds' scattered over the Bunya Mountains. This enjoyable walk weaves in and out of rainforest and dry open forest on the mountain edge and ends at Westcott where there are both picnic and camping facilities. Have someone pick you up at Westcott or make a return journey totalling 6.4 kilometres by returning back along the same track to Paradise. For a shorter return journey walk back along the road (1.5 kilometres) with care. ...

The majestic Bunya Mountains, situated about 150 kilometres from the coast, is a spectacular wilderness range forming an isolated section of the Great Dividing Range. The immense subtropical range of cool, green rainforest, eucalypt forests and woodlands is home to the world's largest forest of bunya pines. Native wildlife, wallabies and pademelons as well as 121 species of birds including brilliantly coloured king parrots, satin bowerbirds and crimson rosellas, call this area home. The Cherry Plain - Burtons Well track is the longest of the Bunya Mountains National Park's western walks and features many lookouts such as Bottletree Bluff and Ghinghion. For the easiest walk, begin at Burtons Well. In spring, the cliff-lines are edged with gold as king orchids (Dendrobium speciosum) flower. Can also be completed as a 12 kilometre (four hour) return walk....
