Sofala's best-kept secret - The Old Sofala Gaol is just 200 meters from the main street, overlooking the town. The bed and breakfast is situated in the original Police residence circa 1898 and consists of four bedrooms. Also available is self-contained accommodation in a unique cottage that was the residence of Joe Yates, songwriter and author. The cottage contains three bedrooms, a living area and a log fire. Horse riding is available on request. On-site cafe/restaurant is open on weekends and public holidays.

Ryder Homestead offers two accommodation options. The Homestead is fully self-contained, has an open fire, a slow combustion fire, an en suite room, five other bedrooms and a large well appointed kitchen. The Blue Gum Cabin is a self-contained two bedroom rustic cabin with slow combustion fire, spa bath and well appointed kitchen. It sleeps up to six people. Activities include gold fossicking, marked bushwalking trails, yabbying, outdoor campfire, star gazing, craft shed for kids and a games shed. Tennis, horse riding and gold fossicking tours can be arranged locally. They accommodate couples, families and large groups, and their aim is for guests to leave feeling relaxed and refreshed and closer to each other!

Situated in a secluded area off the Ilford-Sofala Road and just midway between the towns is the Turon Technology Museum, also known as the Museum of Power, which displays some of the fascinating engines and engineering behind the Industrial Revolution. You will discover that the truth about this most important revolution is very different to your school book history. The museum focuses on the power technology from 1850 to 1950, including steam turbines, a marine diesel engine and compressors. Many of the engines are in working order and those in the steam display are operational. Kiosk, toilets, picnic area, parking are available. Group bookings are essential and catering is available by arrangement....

Sofala Cottage is an historic rammed earth miners Cottage, circa 1873. Edged by National Park, and backing onto the Turon River, this historic cottage is a perfect escape for lovers of nature and history, romantics and artists. Overseas visitors and local travellers will enjoy exploring the Upper Turon area for reminders of the gold rush days. Sofala is one of the oldest and most unusual gold mining towns in NSW. The village has a genuine atmosphere and authentic charm. When you walk along the main road it's like stepping back in time. Sofala Cottage is a traditional miners cottage so the rooms are modest in size. The cottage is self-contained and can accommodate up to two guests. The bedroom has a queen size bed, living room with a wood fired heater and kitchen with wood fired heater, hot plate, microwave, slow cooker, bar fridge and basic cooking facilities. The bathroom has a claw foot bath and toilet. The property is surrounded by beautiful gardens planted with roses, iris, lavender, wisteria, bulbs and herbs. There are numerous old fruit trees including cherry, apple, peach, figs and plums. A variety of grapevines adorn the verandas....
