The Dunghutti-Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery (DNAAG) is an Aboriginal gallery housed in the annex of the Kempsey Visitor Information Centre, designed by internationally renowned architect Glen Murcutt.
The gallery is nestled in parkland on the south side of Kempsey in the Macleay Valley on the Mid North Coast of NSW, and has been operational now for the past five years thanks to Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support.
The aim of the gallery is to showcase and market works of prominent, established and emerging Aboriginal artists of the Dunghutti region and Mid North Coast area. Throughout this region there is a diverse selection of storytelling through artwork. Works are constantly changing as per the Exhibition Program.

The Macleay River Festival is in September at Riverside Park, Kempsey.
The 2016 event hosted three stages of music and performance, the Mighty Macleay Raft Regatta, workshops, a circus playground, sculptures, and history. There was a children's mini festival, buskers, and a food and wine fair. Fabulous food and arts and crafts on sale.

For the months of October and November, visitors to the Slim Dusty Museum will have the added opportunity of viewing 'Fantabulous', a fabulously fantastic exhibition of ephemera given to Slim over many decades by his many fans.
'Fantabulous' includes letters, craft, magazines, costumes, scrapbooks, records, posters, musical instruments and furniture. Whether you think you know just about everything about Slim, or if you don?t know so much, 'Fantabulous' will showcase something new about Slim for everyone.

Val Melville Centre is located amongst the leafy green trees in South Kempsey Park on Lachlan Street, now known as Macleay Valley Way, south of Kempsey township. The Val Melville Centre was designed by award winning architect Glenn Murcutt, and houses the Visitor Information Centre, the Macleay River Historical Society Museum, and the Dunghutti-Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery. Smithtown is a village 16 kilometres north east of Kempsey. Smithtown is on the western side of the Macleay River, Gladstone on the east side and travellers can join up with Tourist Drive 12 from Smithtown to go to either South West Rocks or south to Crescent Head.
You can step back in time and do a historic footpath walk around the township of Smithtown which was land previously leased in 1840 to Major Henry Oakes the first Commissioner for Crown Land on the Macleay.
