Laserzone Brisbane Logo and Images

Laserzone Brisbane

561 Gympie Road, Lawnton QLD 4501

Laser Tag is a high-tech sport where players wearing computerised vests or packs and handheld "phasers" attempt to achieve a winning score by zapping opponent players, base stations, and other targets within a playing arena or maze.

After players put on their packs, the players move into the arena and the missions is started by the central computer. The packs will activate allowing the player to fire their phaser at opponent packs and arena devices such as base stations. Each pack has sensors on the front, back, shoulders and phaser. Zapping these areas will award points while deactivating the tagged opponent for a short time. At the end of the mission, the packs shutdown automatically and the players return to the kit-up room. Score information is displayed on the scoreboard in the foyer. You can even get a print-out your own individual scorecard!

Each mission consists of 8 minutes of actual arena time. We allow a 4 minute change-over and kit-up time. For your first mission, there will also be a 5 minute briefing where Laserzone staff will explain the operation of the packs and arena devices as well as outlining the safety rules.

When you play more than one mission, you will have a 12 minute rest between your missions.

Strathpine Memorial Honour Board

1347 Anzac Avenue, Kallangur QLD 4503
Rolls of honour like the Strathpine Honour Board give a ready insight into a locality's proud involvement in WWI. The honour board, designed by leading Brisbane metal worker Ernest Gunderson in 1921, lists in alphabetical order 76 names of local men who served in WWI. Some lettering is now missing, in its original state it clearly recorded whether a person was killed in action, wounded, died of illness or returned home. The honour board, commissioned by the Strathpine Patriotic League, is made of bronze on a marble background with timber edging. It features cavalrymen with the Queensland state emblem and soldiers; two enamelled flags- the Union Jack and Australian flag; the AIF emblem; a cannon and a replica of Britannia, with the words 'For king and country'. Gunderson's honour boards are unique to Queensland. Few remain as intact as this example, now found in the old foyer of the Pine Rivers RSL, now within the grounds of North Leagues and Services Club. Memorials to the district's servicemen in later conflicts are located nearby. The First World War Memorial Gates facing Anzac Avenue were relocated from the Lawnton showgrounds in 1985, and lead to a memorial garden containing two trophy guns.

Deception Bay

43170 - Deception Bay QLD 4508
The curiously named town of Deception Bay lies approximately 30 kilometres north of Brisbane. It is called Deception Bay because when discovered by Lieutenant John Oxley in 1823, he thought the bay was a river because of its unusual shallowness. Once rich pastoral and grazing land, the area is now an established and growing residential area. Deception Bay's sheltered location and access to both river and bay make it an excellent spot for recreational boating and fishing. A visit to Cottonwood Walk is a must-do when in Deception Bay. This beautiful area along the esplanade incorporates timber boardwalks, a cycleway, barbecues, viewing platforms and picnic facilities. With glorious views of the bay, it is a perfect spot for a family picnic, with much to see and do for both adults and children. At low tide, explore the mudflats towards the northeast corner and see if you can find the two unusual baths that have been excavated out of bedrock. Named Bancroft Bath No1 and No2, these curious structures were created in the late 1800s by a local resident Joseph Bancroft as a type of hydrotherapy unit for his sick wife to bathe in the saltwater. There is also a BMX and skate park in the area where the kids can let loose and practise their latest tricks on wheels....
