Opened in June 2005, the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery has a changing program of exhibitions and public programs for people of all ages.

Public programs provide opportunities for those who want to deepen their understanding of art, meet the exhibiting artists in person and make the most of their gallery experience. Every exhibition features artist and curator talks, and there are often children's workshops, film screenings and guided tours.

Exhibitions are scheduled over a two year period to offer a variety of media in visual art, craft, photography and design. The exhibition program aims to uphold the Hawkesbury's artistic and creative heritage while showcasing the new and original. Every year, at least some of the exhibitions come through Australia's extensive network of regional and public galleries All exhibitions aim to be thought-provoking, challenging and educational.

Lynwood Country Club is situated at Pitt Town which is one of the five historic towns established by Governor Macquarie in 1810. It is located about 50 kilometres north west of Sydney. Lynwood takes its name from historic Lynwood House, a colonial style house built circa 1814 and is located on the course property. The 18 hole golf course is set on 230 undulating acres. It was designed by Graham Papworth, President of the Australian Golf Course Architects Association. The links style 6400 metres, 72 par layout takes advantage of many natural features, including undulations, wetlands and natural rough. The course boasts a truly magnificent driving range, a practice green and short game range incorporating greens and bunker facilities. Most tees and greens are visible from the colonial style clubhouse veranda with sweeping panoramic views to the Blue Mountains as a backdrop.

Hawkesbury Regional Museum in Windsor has a long history including a rich indigenous cultural heritage established by the Darug people, as well as a distinctive built environment dating back to the earliest days of the colony. The Museum conserves and interprets that heritage to residents and visitors, many of whom have family links to the area. The visitor experience comprises a new, purpose-built museum, and the heritage building known as Howe House. Together they form a unique cultural facility located on one of the oldest land grants in Australia. As well as a permanent exhibition on the themes of the river, land and people, the museum offers a program of changing temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of subjects. Heritage precinct walking tours are conducted by trained guides on a regular basis and the bookshop sells a large number of books on the history of the area.

Within Howe Park you'll find a two kilometre footpath meandering along The Terrace with the majestic Hawkesbury River on the other side. This pathway offers an easy, levelled walk (with prams or wheelchairs) and gives you a lovely view of the river with plenty of lush green grass to picnic in, there's also benches along the way. You'll also catch views across the river of the sandy beach in Macquarie Park. On the corner of Kable Street and The Terrace there is a parking lot where you can leave your car. There are public toilets there also. Walk across the road into Howe Park, and there you'll find the viewing platform and leafy shaded picnic tables and benches. A great spot to bring a picnic and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

The heritage charm of Windsor can be fully explored on the heritage walk of the town. Windsor emerged along the banks of the Hawkesbury River and became the third settlement of the Colony in 1794. Originally called Green Hills, Windsor was officially named in 1810 by Governor Macquarie after the town in England. The five Macquarie Towns are Windsor, Richmond, Willberforce, Pitt Town and Castlereagh. Windsor is famous for its many heritage buildings with some being designed by the convict architect Sir Francis Greenway, for example St Matthews Anglican Church, and The Windsor Courthouse. The walk highlights the picturesque colonial town and the State Heritage Registered buildings on North Street. Don't forget to pick up a map from the Visitor Information Centre so that you can take a stroll and step back in time.

Orchids Out West comprises beautiful displays put on by the local orchid societies such as Blacktown City, Blue Mountains and Penrith District and Hawkesbury District Orchid Societies. There are lots of orchids for sale from vendors from around Australia. The fair has a great selection of plants to be purchased to enhance your orchid collection, and always something new. Every year the displays improve in quality and are always very colourful thanks to the wonderful collection of orchids of all generas such as cattleyas, paphiopedilums and cymbidiums, just to name a few. It is worth the drive to the beautiful Hawkesbury district and then maybe further up into the Blue Mountains. Make it a great day out and smell the flowers! Longneck Lagoon walking track, a track which hugs banks of the small permanent freshwater wetland, has one very big attraction: birds. Over 140 species have been recorded at the park, with at least 42 species using the wetland on a regular basis (seven of which are protected by international treaty). Herons and egrets swoop overhead. Surrounded by pleasant forest and offering a tranquil place perfect for walking with children, Longneck Lagoon walking track lets visitors engage with the area’s wildlife both safely and respectfully. Bring your camera and binoculars: as you walk beside the water, expect to see ducks, grebes, spoonbills and cormorants. There are plenty of good vantage points on this easy four kilometre walk. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the undergrowth too: some birds live down below in a thorn bush native to the area. An education centre elaborates on the significance of Longneck Lagoon, but to extend your visit even further, head to the southern precinct of the park to explore Scheyville Camp precinct stop here for a picnic continue exploring along the Migrant Heritage walk....
