Brisbane Bike Tour

36925 - Brisbane QLD 4001

Explore Brisbane by bicycle on a leisurely tour with a local guide who shows you the highlights of this dynamic city, including the South Bank Parklands, Central Business District and City Botanic Gardens. Pedal along bike paths near the Brisbane River and learn about the city’s history and landmarks, plus get the inside scoop on great restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife from the perspective of a local. On the longer morning tour, you also visit New Farm and Teneriffe; in the summer (remember, that is December–February here), you can opt for a twilight tour.

Make your way to South Bank Parklands to meet your guide. Begin the tour with a safety briefing, and get outfitted with a sturdy city bike and helmet.

Set off past the Wheel of Brisbane and Streets Beach, a popular swimming beach that overlooks the central business district and Brisbane River. Your guide points out fine dining and entertainment hot spots along the way.

Head to Kangaroo Point Cliffs, which were quarried for stone in the 1800s. You'll hear how the stone was used to build structures such as The Old Windmill and the Commissariat Store.

Your guide shares Brisbane's history going back to the original Aboriginal inhabitants of the region, and points out key landmarks as you wheel around central Brisbane, stopping regularly for great photo ops and water breaks.

Choose from a 3.5-hour morning or 2-hour afternoon tour year-round, and a 2-hour twilight tour option in the summer months (remember, that is December–February here - see details in Itinerary below).

Total distance traveled varies depending on the riding abilities and interests of the participants, and your guide can adjust the itinerary to suit the group. All tours end with return to your starting point in South Bank Parklands.

Townsville City Sightseeing Tour

37116 - Townsville QLD 4810

Considered the unofficial capital of North Queensland, the sprawling city of Townsville boasts a revitalized esplanade called The Strand, stunning views of Magnetic Island from Castle Hill, and a military fort overlooking Cleveland Bay. During this 2.5-hour sightseeing tour, travel to them all by air-conditioned minivan, making stops at viewpoints along the way to hear your guide’s commentary on Townsville's historical landmarks. Numbers are limited to 12 passengers for a small-group experience.

You must select from one of four pick-up points at time of checkout.

Start your 2.5-hour sightseeing tour with a drive through Townsville’s Central Business District. Known as the CBD, it's considered the commercial hub of North Queensland; you'll learn why as your guide points out historical landmarks and explains the revitalization of the town’s main drag on Flinders Street.

You'll learn even more about the city's history from an onboard audio presentation on a ride up a narrow, winding road to the top of Castle Hill. At the summit of the uniquely shaped monolith of pink granite, stretch your legs on a walk with your guide to a viewpoint. You'll have some free time to look out at the city and Cleveland Bay from several viewing platforms.

Back in town, you’ll pass the oldest of four botanical gardens en route to the historical Jezzine Barracks. Get out for a detailed tour of Fort Kissing Point, a blockhouse built on high ground in the late 1800s that today overlooks The Strand.

Back down at The Strand, see why it has won awards in public development. The 1.4-mile (2.2-km) beachfront playground is studded with ice-cream parlors, cafes, beer gardens and parks. Along a walking path that hugs the coastline, you can look out to see Magnetic Island. After a refreshing stroll on the esplanade, take a short ride over to the Port of Townsville for a brief visit.

The final leg of your afternoon tour includes the lower end of Flinders Street and the entertainment district of Palmer Street. Your guide points out more popular attractions — the Museum of Tropical Queensland, the Maritime Museum, Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and Reef HQ Aquarium.
