The 'Port' series by Damien O’Mara presents several large, industrial landscape photographs of the Port of Brisbane.
The images are shot with a consistent method and composition, in reference to the objective methodology used by late-modern, industrial photographers like Lewis Baltz, Bernd and Hilla Becher and Andreas Gursky.
O’Mara’s exhibition challenges this aesthetic through a unique combination of objective method and abstraction. While the images display symmetry and grid-like composition, they also contain conflicting elements such as vivid, digital colour, and abstracted form.
