Westeria Cottage is a self-contained three bedroom cottage in the town of Ellendale in Southern Tasmania. The cottage has queen, double and king single rooms, sleeping up to five people. Westeria is located just ten minutes by car from one of Tasmania?s beautiful lakes, Lake Meadowbank where you can try your hand at trout fishing. Just 15 minutes away and you?re walking beneath the giant man ferns through the rain forest to Russell Falls, Horse Shoe Falls and Lady Baron Falls in the Mt Field National Park or 45 minutes and you could be standing under one of Australia?s largest standing trees in the Styx Valley at Maydena. Westeria Cottage was built in circa 1900 and has been fully restored keeping many original features including pressed tin ceilings and Baltic pine lined walls. The cabin is surrounded by garden and all things country, set in the sleepy village of Westerway. It is located away from the local main highway, 30 metres away from the Tyenna River, which houses a platypus family you may catch a glimpse of, and a permanent trout filled stream to fish in. Relax and listen to the bubbling river and local birdlife. The cottage has an open plan full size kitchen, dining and lounge room with a wood heater. There are also laundry facilities available. Blue Wren Riverside Cottage is only minutes from Mount Field National Park, the famous Russell Falls and the tallest hardwood forest in the world, as well as near to the World Heritage South West Wilderness around Lakes Pedder and Gordon. We are a great location for adventures to Hobart, central highlands around Lake St Clair and New Norfolk. Post House Cottage, Fentonbury, just an hour from Hobart, is a restored building in the Derwent Valley offering self-contained accommodation. The cottage, just 10 minutes drive from Mount Field National Park, provides the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting with all the comforts of home. This 1900s, fully restored cottage is set in its own garden. It is spacious and very comfortable. The cottage is fully equipped with all modern appliances. It has a living room, kitchen/dining, bathroom with shower, and two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with twin beds. A large veranda provides a peaceful area for outdoor eating or just relaxing. Post House Cottage is set on a small farm with alpacas, sheep, ducks and hens. Land of the Giants Caravan Park is located at Mt Field National Park, southern Tasmania. It is just over one hour’s drive west of Hobart. The caravan park is set in forest by the Tyenna River and is located at the entrance to the National Park. There are 26 campsites and 14 serviced sites suitable for campers, caravans and campervans. Facilities include a shared toilet and shower block, coin-operated laundry facilities, and a covered kitchen and barbecue area. Close by is the Mt Field National Park Visitors Centre. Here, you will find information on walks, history, geology, plants and wildlife of the Park. The Visitors Centre also has a cafe and shop. Declared in 1916, Mt Field was Tasmania’s first National Park. You can enjoy a range of short and longer bushwalks in the Park, and snow skiing in winter. The well-known Russell Falls Track is an easy walk, also suitable for wheelchairs and the Tall Trees Walk features the Swamp Gum -the world’s tallest flowering plant.

Mt Field is Tasmania's most accessible and most loved national park. Just a 90-minute drive from Hobart, the park features a series of beautiful waterfalls and a drive to the summit through sub-alpine and alpine vegetation. Russell Falls with its three-tiered drop is an easy 10-minute stroll from the visitor centre and the most visited spot in the park. From here, continue another 10-min to Horseshoe Falls. The walk continues on to a third waterfall, Lady Barren Falls, the most beautiful of all. At the summit of Mt Field, a short walk around Lake Dobson offers easy walking through some of Tasmania's unique flora, reminiscent of a prehistoric age long past. Plant life on the mountain includes pandani, giant swamp gums, snow gums, myrtle, sassafras, King Billy pine and Australia's only endemic deciduous tree, the fagus or beech. In autumn, the slopes of the mountain above Tarn Shelf, just a short walk on from Lake Dobson, are covered with a brilliant display of colour as the fagus turns from red to gold. Mt Field National Park is also home to many of Tasmania's animals. Here you'll find echidna, spotted-tail and eastern quoll, Tasmanian devils, bandicoots, wombats, possums and bettong pademelon, while the Tyenna River on the edge of the park is one of Tasmania's most prolific trout streams and home to numerous platypus. The visitor centre features interpretation displays, a shop and a bistro. Excellent picnic and camping facilities are also available. Mt Field National Park is just over a 1-hr drive (72 km) from Hobart....

Ellendale Store, Cafe and Gallery is situated in a picturesque village nestled at the foothills of Mt Field East. Our Gallery offers a unique display of photographic material from our resident photographer and author "The Beach Dweller". Book signings can also be arranged by appointment. The surrounding area of Ellendale was heavily timbered in bygone years, and today you will find many a fine example of local Tasmanian timber work and crafts on display. The Cafe offers the opportunity to warm yourself by the wood fire and savour a coffee whilst perusing the local wares. A selection of delicious light meals is available for those with an appetite. The view to the Mountain may even inspire a stroll through our town to soak in the history, including the two churches with fascinating graveyards of pioneer families of the district or to the local picnic grounds where you can play a game of tennis or partake in a barbecue on the banks of the Jones River....

The Westerway Raspberry Farm is a family-owned farm supplying fresh Tasmanian berries and berry products at its Farm Gate shop. Westerway is one hour West of Hobart in the Derwent Valley. Visitors to the Derwent Valley will find our roadside stall on the banks of the Tyenna river at Westerway, nestled amongst tall poplar trees. We are on the way to the popular Mt Field National Park (home of Russell Falls and the world's tallest flowering trees). Visitors can find a variety of freshly picked traditional varieties of raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, red currants, blueberries, cherries and strawberries. They can also find more unique varieties such as silvanberries, golden raspberries and josterberries. Aside from fresh fruit, we also sell juice, ice cream, jam, sauce, liqueur, and teas made from berries grown on our farm. The Clark family have grown berries since the 1960s. But the introduction of mechanical harvesting in the early 1990s helped transform the farm into one of the largest soft fruit farms in Australia....
