Echidna on Bruny is a spacious modern well-appointed house set in 12 acres of coastal bush and sleeps up to 8. A couple can luxuriate in the upstairs en-suited retreat with a queen bed with quality bedding, dual-control electric blanket, comfy couch, tv/dvd, a deck for breakfast with a bird?s-eye view of private bush and native animals. For friends there are 2 additional bedrooms downstairs, each with a double bed and sharing the bathroom between the rooms. For families or larger groups we now have a double bunk upstairs, and there is also a sofa bed in the lounge room downstairs. There is an additional bathroom downstairs with a spa bath. Herons Rise Vineyard Accommodation is a family-owned vineyard with holiday cottages at Kettering, in southern Tasmania. It is located on hills overlooking the D?Entrecasteaux Channel, a 30-minute drive south of Hobart (34 km). We offer two free-standing, self-contained cottages ? the Studio and the Wine Loft cottages. The Studio is best-suited for a couple (a single bed can be set up for a child), with its bedroom raised from the open-plan living and kitchen area. The Wine Loft is up a flight of steps and has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The main bedroom also has a single bed and a further single can easily be set up. Both cottages are spotless, spacious, sunny, warm and private and have rural and sea-views. They have wood-fired heating, which provide warmth and a cosy ambience. Breakfast provisions can be provided for an additional cost. The hosts pride themselves on warm, friendly and personal service and go out of their way to provide useful information. Established in 1984, Heron?s Rise Vineyard produces fine, cool climate Tasmanian wines including Pinot Noir, Rhine Riesling and Muller Thurgau - a German variety developed for colder climates. This variety produces an aromatic wine that develops tropical fruit characters with a little bottle age. The 2005 Heron?s Rise Muller Thurgau was awarded a bronze medal in the Tasmanian Wine Show. You can taste the range of Herons Rise wines at the vineyard by prior arrangement and take home a bottle of the current vintage.
