Crabtree River Cottages is located in the beautiful Huon Valley at Grove, just a 25-minute drive from Hobart. The property is heritage listed and sits on the banks of the Crabtree River and overlooks ?Sleeping Beauty? mountain. We offer two private and comfortable federation-style self-contained cottages named Emily and Eliza. Both cottages have a kitchenette, very high vaulted ceilings, en-suite with two-person spa plus separate shower, romantic bedroom, large decks with barbecue and verandas overlooking Crabtree River. The river is an active playground for platypus and trout, and the pastures beyond are home to wallabies and the odd Tasmanian devil. The Heritage Apartment is designed for couples only and is not suitable for children. It has a large lounge, open fire, kitchenette and private deck overlooking the river. Snug Beach Cabin and Caravan Park offers beach front holiday accommodation at Snug, in southern Tasmania. Snug is a 30 minute drive south from Hobart (24 kilometres) and 10 minutes from Kingston (10 kilometres). The park overlooks North West Bay and across to Bruny Island on the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. The property has self-contained cabins and powered and unpowered sites, set among landscaped gardens. The one- and two-bedroom cabins can accommodate up to seven guests and have well equipped kitchens and comfortable lounge areas. There are powered sites to suit all lengths and styles of caravan, motor home and camper trailer, including a number of long sites and some drive-through sites. The level, grassed camping area has absolute beach frontage. French explorers and early botanists anchored in the bay and fetched water from our river. Interpretive signs tell that story. Ten thousand native plants have gone into this fourteen-year-old garden, supplementing natural regeneration. Plants are chosen for minimum water requirements and sustainability. Paths, rock walls, sculpture and poetry enhance your experience. You'll be met on arrival, introduced to the garden and given a coloured map to help you navigate around this extensive garden. If you like your coffee served from a 1940's timber-cladded caravan, Bentwood Coffee is the place to go. Bentwood Coffee serves Tasmanian roasted Zimmah Coffee, homemade Chai and other delicious hot drinks along with a small variety of hot pies and cookies, all locally sourced. You can find Bentwood Coffee located at The Springs on Mount Wellington next to the stone hut with the roaring fire. Open five days a week, Wednesday through to Sunday, in the snow, sunshine, wind or rain. Bentwood Coffee also offers information and maps on all the walks, that are located on the mountain, along with mountain bike tracks, waterfalls, and even an ice rink. Mount Wellington is the number one tourist destination in Hobart and who wouldn't want to stop and enjoy a delicious hot drink in one of the most beautiful locations in Hobart, Tasmania. If we are not on Mount Wellington, you will find us at the Hobart Twilight Market, that runs from October through until March every fortnight of a Friday evening. We also might occasionally sneak away and be serving our goods at festivals, markets or even a wedding....

The Channel Heritage Centre is a purpose-built community museum, research library, exhibition gallery and a cafe/shop. It's aim is to promote and preserve the history and heritage of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel area. The museum's displays feature early exploration, aborigines, timber, boat building, fruit growing, fishing, sport, churches, schools, transport and militaria. A shop and three colonial-style rooms display aspects of everyday life in the past. The Electrona Carbide Works was unique in Australia and has it's own display. We also house the Don Norton Camera Collection and two rooms depicting the home life of Dutch migrants in the 1950s. The library has a collection of folders, books, photographs, newspaper clippings, family histories and memorabilia to satisfy the serious researcher and the casual browser. The gallery features displays by local artists and organisations which change monthly. Artwork is often for sale. The shop sells craft and produce made by locals, and the cafe has food and drinks made on site. There are special programs to fit the national curriculum for school groups, by arrangement. Group visits from community and tour groups are encouraged and can be catered for in our caf?. There is easy access for the elderly and disabled....

Willie Smith's Apple Shed is the hottest hut in the Huon Valley: craft ciders, artisan cheeses, and plenty of space to sit, chat, roll in the hay, etc. They've partnered up with other like-minded locals to throw a mini midwinter festival to celebrate the region's apple-pickin' history. At its core is a focus on wassailing: the ages-old tradition of scaring nasties out of cider apple trees, from orchard to orchard, in order to bring on a stellar autumn yield. Now, things may seem a little strange at first: kings, queens, processions, giving gifts to the trees, shouting, banging, fire, candlelight, and so forth, but what else would you expect? And if none of that bobs your Geeveston fanny, that's okay too - there'll be cider, entertainment and feast-worthy food in abundance....

The North West Bay Golf Club is southern Tasmania?s only 18-hole country course. Located in Margate, the course is 15 minutes south of Hobart (19 kilometres). The North West Bay Golf Club offers expansive views of Bruny Island and the D?Entrecasteaux Channel. This tree-lined, undulating course features many challenging holes that will test your uphill, downhill and side-hill shot skills. Visiting golfers who are members and associates of registered interstate clubs are welcome and the course is open for green-fee players on Sundays. The Club also has a bar, kiosk and practice facilities. Golf cars are available for hire and barbecue facilities are available by arrangement.
