The Kalamunda History Village is a museum depicting the unique hills life and industries in the early years. Eagle's View Walk Trail is a 15 kilometre moderate loop walk around John Forrest National Park, Western Australia's oldest national park, with impressive views across the Swan Coastal Plain to distant Perth the track passes through varied vegetation types, including heath lands, open wandoo woodlands and mixed jarrah-marri-wandoo forest. This Top Trail takes walkers away from the picnic areas, initially following Jane Brook down the valley. It then climbs up the valley wall to great views of the city and ocean. The trail then weaves its way up and down valleys, creek lines and hills before heading back to the brook. There are different ecosystems along the way and spring wildflowers are spectacular. Hovea Falls is a pretty place for a picnic lunch when water is flowing. The trail follows Jane Brook back to the main visitor's area. Signs every two kilometres advise how far you have walked and how far to go. The trail can be tackled clockwise or anticlockwise. The walk trail brochure is available from the ranger's office, along with the walker's log book. Walkers must register before they head off and on their return....

Mundaring Weir

As well as being an idyllic place for a scenic drive, a picnic with friends, or bushwalking, Mundaring Weir is also an important part of Western Australia's heritage. Located in natural bushland in the Perth Hills, Mundaring Weir is one of the world's greatest engineering projects. Completed in 1903, the Weir was the start of the water pipeline that pumped water to the Kalgoorlie goldfields, some 700 kilometres away. At the foot of the weir is the Number 1 Pump Station Museum where you can learn more about the brilliant engineer behind the project, C.Y. O'Connor, who endured much public criticism and tragically took his own life. A drive trail that follows the pipeline called the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail starts at the museum. There are several walking trails around Mundaring Weir that take you deep into virgin bush. You'll see beautiful native plants, animals and plenty of birds. You can also walk across the massive concrete Weir wall. Pack a picnic and enjoy the barbecue facilities, grassed areas and shady trees. While improvement works are underway, there will be limited access both above and below the Weir wall. Mundaring Weir is about a 40 minute drive from Perth....

Other adventures await at the start of the Munda Biddi BikeTrail, one of few places on Earth where you can cycle hundreds of kilometres off road through stunning biodiversity hotspots. There's also the Railway Heritage Trail that retraces the 70 kilometre Fremantle to York railway line, passing through Western Australia's first conservation area, John Forrest National Park, and revealing the unique history and character of the small settlements that sprang up along the railway line. The trail is suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding - a great way to experience the forests and bushland where native wildlife and spring wildflowers abound. An early morning walk in the cooler months can be a magical experience as the mist rises in the treetops. Drummonds Camp is located in the stunning Avon Valley National Park. Close to jarrah, marri and powderbark forest, the valleys themselves are forested with wandoo, making for peaceful bushwalks through the area. It's also a great place to see a wide variety of wildflowers and birdlife in the Spring. The campground itself features tent sites, picnic tables, fire rings, toilets and water (untreated). It is suitable for tents and small caravans or camper trailers only. Campfires are usually permitted between 1 April and 30 November but fire restrictions may be imposed at any time and without notice. Bring your own firewood. Bookings cannot be made. Mundaring Community Sculpture Park

Lovers of art and culture will delight in a day spent at the Mundaring Community Sculpture Park. Artistic sculptures are set amidst nature's own masterpieces of Golden Wattles, gums, and wildflowers. Immerse yourself in the local history, appreciate the artistic merits of the sculptures, and enjoy the beautiful natural environment. Mundaring Community Sculpture Park is located on the site of the former Mundaring Railway Station. Eight Western Australian artists have created sculptures for the park. In addition to creating an individual sculpture, artist Trevor Woodward was involved in formulating the original design concept of the park. The visually exciting Moodae-ring acoustic sculpture is carved from Karri and Wandoo timbers and is fun to experience. A variety of sounds can be heard by pressing the touch activated panels. If you have time, take a walk or cycle along the adjacent Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, or pack a picnic to enjoy while the kids take advantage of the well equipped playground. The Mundaring Visitor Centre is a National Tourism Accredited Visitor Centre located in the old school house in the heart of Mundaring and is the ideal first port of call to seek information on local attractions, trails, activities, wineries, dining and accommodation options. The Mundaring Visitor Centre also manages campsite bookings and general enquiries for Lake Leschenaultia. The centre also houses the district museum, so it is well worth a visit to learn more about the history of the area, as well as a retail section stocked with a selection of souvenirs, local produce, walk and cycle trails, including the long distance Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail, regional maps and general information. The staff has a wealth of local knowledge and is able to assist with local maps, information and suggestions to help you get the most out of your visit to the Perth Hills. The Mundaring Visitor Centre is open seven days; from 9:30am to 4.00pm Monday to Saturday and 10:00am to 2:30pm on Sundays and most public holidays (closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday)....
