Huon Valley Backpackers is located in Tasmania's Huon Valley, just a 45-minute drive south of Hobart, and situated on a small farm on top of Balfes Hill overlooking the Huon River and the serene Huon Valley. It's fun meeting other travellers at this family, friendly hostel, where your friendly hosts, with over 22 years experience, try hard to ensure a pleasant visit. A great base to explore the surrounding areas including Bruny Island, the Hartz Mountains National Park, Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves and the Southwest Wilderness World Heritage Area. Fruit picking work is available in the local farms between November and May. Your hosts can help you find work, please enquire via email. After a hard days' work picking, or touring, you can relax in the peaceful surroundings, or there are lovely walks in the area, or liven up by playing table tennis, eight ball or darts. Huon Valley Backpackers has twin ensuite rooms, standard double rooms and six-bed dormitories, all with shared bathroom facilities. There are fully equipped kitchens, generous lounges and dining areas. Outdoor barbecue facilities and our wood fired pizza oven offer a great way to mix with friends and celebrate being in this awsome place.
