Selby & Friends opens the 2017 season celebrating the glorious diversity of piano trios. Youth & The Dance is presented by two of pianist/Artistic Director Kathryn Selby’s special chamber music friends, brilliant young Australian rising star, violinist Grace Clifford who is creating waves as she studies at the famed Curtis Institute in the US, and bravura cellist Clancy Newman. Patrons will remember Grace from several years ago when she joined Selby & Friends on tour at the tender age of 14! Clancy Newman is well-known to Australian audiences from his amazing emotional and technical dexterity on the cello in addition to his brilliance as a young composer of note. Presenting youthful works by Beethoven and Saint-Saens, the program climaxes with the ever-popular ‘Dumky’ Trio by Dvořák. A season opener to truly relish!...

The Australians of the Year Walk is a permanent record of Australians selected to be Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Local Hero. A symbol of national aspiration and achievement, it is fitting that the Australians of the Year are recognised in this memorial in the National Capital. Incorporated in the walk are five metal strips, forming the five stave lines of a music score. The plinths represent the notes to the music score of Advance Australia Fair, which can be read from West to East. ...

The National Carillon is a striking 50 metre tall architectural landmark. It is also an impressive musical instrument with 55 bronze bells, each weighing between seven kilograms and six tonnes. The Carillon was a gift of the British Government to the people of Australia in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Capital.
