Richardsons Harley-Davidson Museum and Café showcases motorcycle memorabilia dating back to 1940 in Westbury, Tasmania. Simon Hrycyszyn (Richardson) is the driving force behind the museum and Tasmania's oldest Harley-Davidson dealership. The museum contains interesting treasure including a 1900s pedal bike with a plate that reads 'A.G. Flannery-Harley-Gallion Co,' an extremely rare piece. Wander through the museum and enjoy stepping back in time with a 1940 ex Army Indian Scout and two J-model Harley-Davidsons. Donations from enthusiasts have assisted in the expansion of the museum. Learn about the history of the property, as Simon began in a workshop beneath his father's house repairing motorcycles, before moving to a simple tin shed and later constructing the two-story building it is today. The building itself is worth a look, made primarily from recycled materials. The pre-owned parts section is built from Harley-Davidson bike crates, the flooring from telegraph poles and structural beams from wharf pylons. While you are in Westbury, wander through the quaint village, established in the 1820s as a garrison town. Visit the White House Museum, Westbury Maze and Pearn's world famous Steam World. Westbury is an easy 20-minute drive from Launceston (35 kilometres/22 miles).

Kids Paradise, situated in Riverside, Launceston, is Tasmania's largest indoor family and children's playground. Refurbished and expanded in 2007 the centre is a favourite destination for families. Children can enjoy the pirate playground with slides and ball pits. There are interactive rooms that capture the imagination of younger children: Paris' Deli, Rachelle's Parlour and Lachie's Travels. There is a huge outdoor slide connecting the top floor with the bottom floor. The bottom floor is geared more towards the older children with inflatable play and sports activities being played on a regular basis. Fitted in between the top two floors is The Hub which has been designed for all the tech-savvy - with an Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Guitar Hero. You can visit kids paradise which is open every day; lunch is served daily in Seals cafe and dinner Friday and Saturday. The licensed cafe caters for children and has great value family meal deals. Enjoy a glass of wine, good food and relax whilst the kids go wild. Riverside is a few minutes' drive from Launceston's city centre.

The National Automobile Museum of Tasmania in Launceston features one of Australia's most significant motoring collections. Spanning over one hundred years of style and technical achievement this impressive collection of traditional and contemporary automobiles is a must see for all those who appreciate history, design, engineering and style. The museum comes alive with four sensational theme displays each year as well as constantly changing exhibits in the main hall and a mezzanine floor packed with motorcycles. Along with over one hundred exhibits the museum features a unique gift shop with a magnificent range of merchandise that will delight people of all ages. Situated just one block from the city centre opposite Launceston's beautiful City Park, a visit to The National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is an ideal way to spend a leisurely afternoon. Open every day (except Christmas day) 9am to 5pm. Opening times during winter are 10am to 4pm.

Entally house is a lovely old house located in Tasmania's north at Hadspen. Entally Estate is named after a suburb of Calcutta, India, and built in 1819 for Thomas Reibey. While he lived there he was reputed to have the most extensive library in the colony. The house contains a magnificent collection of Regency furniture and fine silver. It is surrounded by superb gardens and grounds, in which there are a greenhouse, a chapel, a coach house and stables. It seems that Reibey preferred long-lasting substance to short-term style: an article in an 1883 newspaper described the house as more designed for comfort than as a model for the exposition of any particular canons of architecture. While you are in the region, be sure to visit the historic towns of Westbury and Longford or head into the city of Launceston. Here, you will find Cataract Gorge, a beautiful urban reserve as well as leafy parks and street-side cafes. You can also take a drive down the Tamar Valley Wine Route where you can sample some of Tasmania's finest cool climate wines. Entally House is about 15-minutes' drive (13 kilometres/8 miles) from Launceston.

Trevallyn Dam is situated on the South Esk River just outside Launceston, Tasmania's northern city. Excellent for a picnic, trail walks and boating, the dam is located within the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area. The 440 hectare (1089 acre) reserve offers a range of attractions and activities. Visitors can walk along the South Esk River gorge, view the Trevallyn Dam wall in flood and experience cable hang-gliding. Wander the open grassy reserve where you are likely to see resident wombats and ducks out on the water. Enjoy short walks out to lookouts or a longer walk from the gorge right up past the Trevallyn Power Station. During summer, the water is ideal for swimming and the shores of Lake Trevallyn are utilised by the Launceston community for water skiing, kayaking and windsurfing. Find a spot in the spacious undercover barbecue area to have your lunch. Trevallyn Dam is about 10-minutes drive (4 kilometres/2.5 miles) from Launceston's central business district.

See the stars at the Launceston Planetarium in the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Tasmania. The Planetarium presents a variety of astronomy shows by projecting images of the southern night sky onto a domed ceiling, accompanied by additional effects and narration. The Planetarium projector, the heart of the system, reproduces all of the stars visible to the unaided eye from the southern hemisphere, and simulates the apparent motion of the stars as the earth rotates. Each programme runs for 25 to 30 minutes, followed by a talk describing the current sights of the Tasmanian night sky, showing the positions of the planets and constellations. A special feature is the solar telescope showing a fascinating live television picture of the Sun (on sunny days only, of course). Show TImes are 3pm Tuesday to Friday and 2pm and 3pm Saturday.

Franklin House is convict built and located in northern Tasmania at Franklin Village, Launceston. Built by former convict and successful businessman Britton Jones, Franklin House is notable for its rich use of imported Australian Red Cedar. Extended to accommodate one of the colonies leading private schools which operated there from 1842 until 1866 the house finally became the birthplace of the National Trust in Tasmania in 1960. Franklin House survives with house, stables and garden. Nearby and also accessible is St James Church which was built in 1845 and has many associations with the House. The Tearooms are open during house hours for light meals and refreshments. The Metro Bus services, numbers 40 and 50 from the City to Franklin village, stop outside the House.

Clockwise specialises in antique clocks and watches, located in the northern Tasmanian city of Launceston. Established in 1992, Clockwise specialises in buying, repairing, restoring and selling antique clocks, wrist, and pocket watches. You can choose from a range of clocks, including English, European and American mantel clocks; long case clocks and hand-built timepieces. The store also repairs and restores antique clocks and watches, in addition to antique music boxes and metronomes. Clockwise also offers a small selection of other antiques. Tasmania's rich colonial and convict history draws antique hunters and collectors from across the world. Many of the state's museums and galleries feature collections of fine antique china, art, glassware and furniture. You can visit a number of fine antique shops in Launceston and northern Tasmania to begin or expand your own collection. Launceston is Tasmania's second-largest city, and is just over a two-hour drive (199 kilometres) from the state's capital, Hobart.

The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG), in Launceston, is Australia's largest regional museum. QVMAG is Launceston's arts, cultural and creative heartbeat and gateway to local history and character. It enjoys a national profile for its collections of Australian colonial art, decorative arts and design, Tasmanian history and natural science. The QVMAG is located on two sites: the 1870s era railway workshop at Inveresk; and the 1891 Royal Park Art Gallery building on Wellington Street. The Royal Park site is being refurbished and will open late 2011. The Inveresk site is home to the preserved railway workshops and new permanent exhibition Tasmanian Connections which reveals a range of stories as told by the Museum's social history and natural science collections in six striking installations. See dinosaurs, death masks, planes soaring above, and artifacts from Australia's oldest merchant shipwreck. Inveresk also features the Phenomena Factory, a free-entry interactive science centre providing hands-on education for kids of all ages. The Launceston Planetarium is located at Inveresk where you'll see astronomical concepts demonstrated in a way that is both dramatic and scientifically accurate. The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery is a short drive from Launceston's central business district.

Riverside Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course located in Launceston, northern Tasmania. It is one of Tasmania's premier courses (par 73) with gently undulating fairways and picturesque views from the clubhouse. There is a well stocked bar and excellent dining facilities in the clubhouse. There are also excellent practice facilities including a fairway, putting green and nets. A resident professional is also employed by the club to provide lessons and to advise on all golfing needs to members and visitors alike. While you are in Launceston, be sure to explore the city and the delightful Cataract Gorge nearby. Take a chairlift ride across this urban reserve or head down the Tamar Valley and sample some fine Tasmanian wines. Riverside Golf Club is just a few minutes' drive out of central Launceston, located at Riverside.

The Old Umbrella Shop is a heritage-listed store in central Launceston, northern Tasmania. The Old Umbrella Shop is one of the last surviving, largely intact early twentieth century shops in Tasmania. It offers an experience far from that of contemporary retail practice. Operated by three generations of the Shott family, the shop now houses displays about the family, umbrellas and the blackwood souvenirs. Many of these souvenirs were made on the premises. The shop is also well known for the large range of umbrellas stocked for sale as well as a variety of National Trust and Tasmanian products. While you are in Launceston, why not enjoy a coffee down by the water at Old Launceston Seaport or one of the many street-side cafes. Enjoy the leafy city parks or head down the Tamar Valley Wine Route where you will find some of Tasmania's finest cool-climate wines. Cataract Gorge is just a few minutes' walk from the city centre, where you can enjoy a chairlift ride over the scenic gorge below.
