Tiny, simple and the way of the future – Vini has captured the essence of Sydney’s new found love affair with trattorias, enotecas and osterias. Vini Restaurant of Surry Hills is a small package indeed but it’s packed full of goodness.

There's bound to be plenty of all of the above at this charming sister venue to Elizabeth Bay's popular Gazebo Wine Garden. Accessible via a cobbled path in Surry Hills, The Winery mixes quirky-modern and classic-chic sensibilities to great effect, complete with a chandelier of antelope heads and French chairs from the early 20th century. As its name suggests, wine is a key focus of this venture, with more than 50 imported and local wines available by the glass. The Modern Australian menu features tasting plates, mains, and even a "girls' picnic" set menu for lazy weekend noshes.

Porteno accepts reservations for groups minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 people. We offer 2 seatings; 6pm-8:30pm or 9pm-close. Groups of 8 or more are on a chef's selected banquet style menu for $80 per person.

For groups of 4 or less we operate a walk-in system and we only seat groups once the full party are together.

Once the restaurant is full we take a waiting list, most parties choose to wait in "Gardel's Bar" upstairs where a bar menu is available.

Hello, good times! You can say many things about the legendary Clock Hotel, but, if you can’t have fun here, well then, you are hard to please. Let’s start with that wraparound balcony. While getting a seat here may require precision timing and an immense amount of luck, once you have experienced drinking from this vantage point on Crown Street, it’s a little hard to ever drink indoors again. The people watching is superb, especially while sipping on the Clock Hotel Martini, while the sun gently sets.

Do not despair if said balcony is full up. There are plenty of inviting areas at the Clock and the booths in the Street Bar are very obliging if there is a few of you. Even though it can get pretty rowdy in here of a Friday night, a surprisingly laidback feel is maintained. However, come midweek if it’s a quiet drink you’re in need of. Better still, sojourn to the Pool Bar to shoot some stick and keep an eye on the game. The Pool Bar has several plasma screens to keep the sports mad well contented.

The Clock is a big renovated pub that caters to a mixed clientele, who range from business men in suits to more casual types who want to leave the working week as far behind as possible. It’s kind of hip at times, without being too painful, and you don’t have to be under 30 to feel at home here.

Bodega has strutted as confidently as a puffed-up matador onto the Surry Hills restaurant scene, with a menu of rustic Spanish and South American food. Built and established as a licensed premises in 1912 as the Cleveland Inn, this heritage listed hotel is featured in the Powerhouse Museum.

A major restoration in 1995 prompted a name change and Bar Cleveland was born, evolving into one of Sydney's most popular inner city pubs.

We re-opened The Carrington in the middle of 2011. We kept it true to its origins, a good, old fashioned, neighbourhood pub… Except we made the food and drinks waaaayyyyy more better / interesting. We also made them kind of Spanish… Think the pintos bars of San Sebastian, but then stop thinking that and start thinking about an Aussie pub, on Bourke Street, in Sydney.

There’s high tables and stools in the front bar, so you can get your pub on, but head out the back and our dining area will make you want to lose hours here; ideally over some pintxos and a glass of tempranillo, or our Ibiza muesli and a bloody mary on the weekend. The Devonshire Restaurant Surry Hills is located in cosmopolitan Devonshire Street, just a stone throw away from popular Crown Street.
