Established in 1858, Bendigo Pottery offers a unique visitor experience of both historic and modern ceramic production. Bendigo Pottery has quality ceramic tableware at factory prices, antiques and collectables centre with over 40 stalls, heritage listed wood fired kilns as well as an Interpretive Museum. The Interpretive Museum features a theatrette inside a heritage wood fired kiln and displays of kilns, production equipment and pottery produced over the last 150 years. The museum has videos, soundscapes and views into the factory to provide an insight into the production process. You can watch a potter hand throwing product and have a wheel throwing lesson. There are also activities younger children can participate in called 'Clay Play'. There are six artist studios including painting, prints, glass beads, photos and textiles. Potiche Gallery has ceramics by Central Victorian Potters on display for the public to purchase. PepperGreen Farm is a social enterprise division of Access Australia Group (AAG) a not-for-profit organisation that supports people through targeted education, employment, social inclusion and social enterprises. PepperGreen Farm has been developed as a tourist, education and employment precinct, providing tourist attractions and experiences to visitors and the community, school and community workshops and programs on environmental practices, horticulture and biodiversity. The Bendigo Joss House Temple, a Chinese place of worship, was opened in 1871. Standing for over a century, the Bendigo Joss House Temple is one of the few remaining buildings of its type in Australia. It comprises a Caretaker's Residence, Temple and Ancestral Hall. The main temple is dedicated to Guan-Di, the god of war and prosperity. The Chinese saw Guan-Di as a wise judge, guide, protector and provider of wealth and prosperity. Constructed with locally hand-made bricks and painted red - symbolising the traditional Chinese colour denoting happiness, strength and vitality - the Bendigo Joss House Temple is an important part of Bendigo's cultural history.
