The walk to Fairy Bower Falls starts at Gambells Rest Picnic area or Fairy Bower car park, Morton National Park, Bundanoon. The walk offers a huge variety of walks, views to wonderful waterfalls and picnic areas. Fairy Bower Falls takes you to the top of the escarpment with a ladder leading to the bottom of the falls. A highlight of this area is Tooths Lookout and Fairy Bower Waterfalls. This is a one hour loop walk, grading is medium/steep. Maps are available from the Visitors Information Centre in Mittagong or National Parks and Wildlife Service at Fitzroy Falls.

Bundanoon cycling route is in Morton National Park and offers an easy, yet rewarding, day on the bike for all the family. Boasting amazing views from Southern Highland escarpment lookouts, this mountain bike track offers an assortment of picnic areas and undulating unsealed roads through the forest. The trail weaves through open forest, alive with banksias and flowering shrubs, until you come to the edge of the escarpment formed by Bundanoon Creek. You’ll need to push your bike along the short walking paths to Tooths, Sunrise Point and Grand Canyon lookouts, but the vistas across Morton National Park are well worth the effort. Pack a picnic and enjoy a leisurely lunch along the way. If you haven’t brought your own bike, they can be rented from the Bundanoon cycle shop near the railway station....

Mount Carnarvon walking track connects Echo Point picnic area with an isolated hilltop lookout, offering terrific birdwatching and a place to have lunch afterwards. The view from Echo Point picnic area is memorable in its own right, but for something even more secluded, follow a track south from the picnic area as it descends through an interesting cliff line down some stairs. These are carved directly out of the old rock. The track then climbs gently to the isolated hilltop of Mount Carnarvon, with its own unique lookout, offering yet another vantage point over Morton National Park. This is a terrific spot for birdwatching, given the park’s staggering variety of native species: birds of prey circle the lookout during the day, and owls frequent the area at night. It’s also a great place to appreciate the heathland flowers during spring, with black drumsticks, yellow banksia, purple geebungs and prickly hakeas sighted in the area. After taking your fill of the scenic vista, retrace your steps up the sandstone escarpment, then consider breaking for a picnic lunch at Echo Point....

Although not a bushwalk for the faint of heart, Tooth's walking track to Bundanoon Creek offers great rewards for those who are fit and don’t mind a steep climb. The walking track begins at Tooths lookout, with its spectacular scenic views of the valley, and descends steeply towards Bundanoon Creek. As you get closer to the creek, you may see reptiles lying across the track and, during spring, wildflowers blooming nearby. Don’t get too distracted because you need to keep a close eye on where you’re placing your feet. At the base, strip down to your swimmers and plunge into the swimming hole. It’s the perfect way to refresh before you make the climb back to the top. Make sure you leave plenty of time, since the walk needs to be completed during daylight....

It's time to dust off the bagpipes, oil the bicycle chain and put your walking shoes on. The town is a step back into the 1930's, home to Brigadoon, but these days it's also a Mecca for cyclists of all ages and bushwalkers, being the gateway to Morton National Park. Just 140 kilometres south west of Sydney, Bundanoon is one of the prettiest villages in the Southern Highlands. It retains an old world charm and is a popular base for exploring Morton National Park. Popular since the 1920s as a tourist destination, the village has fine old guesthouses, grand old pub, cafés and antique dealers. It is also a Mecca for cyclists of all ages. Follow William Street to the east of town to find the sandstone grotto known as Glow-Worm Glen, best seen at dusk. The 11 kilometres of roads and trails that run through Morton National Park make it popular for bike rides and sightseeing....

The track then descends into Ferntree Gully, a cool retreat that lives up to its name, with numerous ferns and spring wildflowers like purple geebungs and prickly hakeas.   The track ascends out of the gully and finishes at the amphitheatre carpark, but it’s easy to retrace your steps from there, perhaps taking time on the return trip to appreciate the many native birds in the area – Ferntree Gully is terrific for birdwatching. Once you’ve taken in the view at Riverview lookout, settle down for a picnic lunch, or consider connecting the track with several others in the area to make up a full afternoon of walking. Nicholas Pass walking track is particularly good, and connects with Riverview walking track at the amphitheatre....
