The Port Macquarie Historical Society Inc celebrated its 50th Anniversary in June 2006 with a Garden Party for members and in December 2006 hosted a Morning Tea in the presence of its Patron, NSW Governor Professor Marie BASHIR AC, CVO.
The original two storey building was constructed in 1836 using convict bricks and was used as a General Store and residence. Today the building contains the old shop and kitchen on the ground floor, a parlour, dining room, bedroom and nursery upstairs displaying a range of artefacts dating back to the 1830s. The original rain water tank is the feature of one room next to the old courtyard.
The Courthouse served the community for 117 years until it was vacated in 1986 when a new courthouse was built. Restoration was completed in 1993 and the building is classified by the National Trust of Australia (NSW) and is also registered on the National Estate.
Built in 1869 to fulfil an urgent and pressing need to replace the original courthouse, which was in a derelict state, the building was designed by Colonial Architect James Barnet and built by Butler and Bourne, local builders, at the cost of 1,091 and 9 shillings.

9th Annual Summer Showcase Exhibition
The Hastings Valley Fine Art Association will hold its 9th annual Summer Showcase Exhibition and sale from 28th December 2014 until 4th January 2015 at the Laurieton United Services Club, Seymour Street. Open each day 10am-5pm, $2 entry.
The Showcase is the major event on the Association’s calendar and for the fifth year incorporates the Mid North Coast Open Art Prize of $1000, which is open to all artists living in this area. An additional seven sections make this a varied and vibrant, must-see exhibition. The judge is Niomi Sands, Gallery Curator, Glasshouse Regional Gallery.
President Brian Barker said, “This is our ninth Summer Showcase Exhibition and with the strong ongoing support of the Laurieton United Services Club and the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce, it takes pride of place on the HVFAA calendar as one of our major achievements. This is evidenced by the very high standards of our members and Open Section entrants’ work that is submitted and judged.
This year the association has chosen to support the Camden Haven Branch of Bravehearts.

Built in 1862 for George Francis, this property became known for its success in wine production between 1867 and 1918, winning prizes from shows in Europe and India. Remnants of formal gardens remain including dense bamboo clumps. Douglas Vale is being restored and is classified by the National Trust.
The Douglas Vale Historic Vineyard is producing a limited release of wines from the original "Isabella" grape and other selected varieties. Tours and wine tasting are available on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Koala Hospital is in the grounds of Macquarie Reserve. It is the world's first hospital dedicated solely to the care and preservation of koalas. The hospital has a treatment room, eight Intensive Care Units, a 24 Hour Rescue and Treatment operation and multiple recovery yards. The hospital has a research affiliation with the University of Western Sydney, University of Sunshine Coast, Murdoch University and the Australian Museum. Come and see the koalas being fed by volunteers, at approximately 8am and 3pm daily. Educational displays and group lectures can be arranged. The Koala Society of NSW Inc is a voluntary organisation and your support will help save the koalas of the Port Macquarie Area. All donations gratefully accepted.
