ATTRACTION FERNVALE

Just an hour from downtown Brisbane, Lake Wivenhoe is a spectacular water reserve, north-west of Brisbane. A visit to this scenic natural area offers a peaceful and tranquil outing complete with panoramic views of the lake. Lake Wivenhoe provides a focus for quiet and relaxed land and water-based, family-style recreation. Only non-fuel powered boats are permitted and domestic animals are prohibited. A permit is required for camping, fishing and boating. Wivenhoe Dam was completed in 1985 and lake Wivenhoe is extremely good for fishing, boating, camping, picnics and swimming. SEQWater Education Centre (on the Esk side of Wivenhoe dam wall) has many facilities including toilets, bus/car parking, shelter sheds, barbecues, interpretive displays, information trail, lookout, conference centre and information sessions (bookings essential). The large range of camping and boat ramp facilities nearby make these dams a must-visit spot for families and groups and the scenery surrounding them provides a breathtaking backdrop to the wet and watery fun. There are several places to stay including Cormorant Bay, Hamon Cove, Spillway Common, Logan Inlet, Captain Logan's Camp and Lumley Hill Camping Area. The choice is yours!
