Crittenden Estate

25 Harrisons Road, Dromana VIC 3936
The Crittenden Wine Centre introduces a new way of experiencing wine on the Mornington Peninsula. A range of alternative and traditional wines can be sampled in a format that is unique, innovative and makes tasting wine an experience in itself. Knowledgeable staff greet patrons and guide them through carefully designed wine flights to allow them to gain a full understanding of the wines. Comfortable seating at tables custom made from French oak ensures that guests are able to concentrate on the experience yet relax in ambient surroundings with views over the lawn, lake and some of the Peninsula's oldest vines. It is a genuine family operation, with father and founder Garry Crittenden now overseeing the vineyard, son Rollo the winemaking and daughter Zoe the marketing. The wine tasting experience occurs in the large home where the Crittenden family once lived; recently renovated and converted to the stylish, purpose built wine centre. The large range of wines reflect Rollo's passion for traditional varietals as well as his inability to resist the temptation to experiment in the winery. This means that the wine tasting experience is informative and educational. Imperatively though, it is fun and like anything to do with wine, best enjoyed with friends and family.
Bass and Flinders Distillery Logo and Images

Bass and Flinders Distillery

40 Collins Road, Dromana VIC 3936
Symbolising the urge to explore uncharted territory, two famous Australian explorers, George Bass and Matthew Flinders have served as the inspiration behind the unique Bass and Flinders Distillery business on Red Hill. Bass and Flinders Distillery was founded in 2009 by Wayne Klintworth and Bob Laing. During that year the business partners investigated the Mornington Peninsula and discovered many wineries but no distilleries. They saw this as an opportunity and created an artisanal distillery for the production of grape based spirits and liqueurs. In order to achieve their goals Bob and Wayne enlisted the assistance of a master Cognac distiller to mentor them in the art of distillation. They have also forged contacts with artisanal distilleries in Cognac and Normandy, France. Wayne and Bob share a passion to produce unique products and aim to produce an Australian aged spirit that is distinctive and comparable with the best products from France. Their objective is to launch this aged spirit product in early 2015. The heart of the Bass and Flinders Distillery is the 300 litre French designed Alembic style still. The small batch sizes and double distillation techniques produce the high quality grape spirit required to mature and age in specially commissioned French oak barrels. Bass and Flinders Distillery also offer a distinct range of other grape spirit based products, including gins, vodkas, grappa, limoncello and crema di limoncello. Bass and Flinders Distillery offer visitors a different tasting experience that complements the area's wine-tasting options. They have a cellar door and you can visit for tastings and purchases on the weekends and public holidays. Tours of the distillery can be arranged by appointment and Gin Master Classes are also conducted every month.
