It’s an easy 500 metre walk from the car park, and the views are outstanding all year round. Admire the views of the cascading waters and snatch glances into the Bangalore Gorge from the lookout. Wander back to the picnic area along the easy walking track. This short walk takes you past awe-inspiring grand trees that escaped the former logging activities in the park. Relax and enjoy a peaceful picnic under the trees, with the sound of the waterfalls in the distance. Look out for lyrebirds and, if you’re a keen birdwatcher, you might recognise the distinctive ‘wom-poo’ call of the wompoo fruit-dove....

Ulong is a small town located on the Mid North Coast region of NSW. (population 131). The town lies inland from Coffs Harbour by 36 kilometres. Whilst a short distance, it takes 45 minutes to drive to through rainforest. Ulong is on the Dorrigo Plateau and sits 1700 feet Australian Height Datus (AHD). The climate is markedly different from Coffs Harbour. Once larger than Coffs Harbour it was a centre for the timber industry. Hoop pine, tallowood and blackbutt were all milled extensively. It was also known for gold mining. Ulong is on the road to Nymboida river and borders one of it's tributaries, the Little Nymboida river....

Lowanna is a village (population 335) in the Coffs Harbour hinterland, officially a suburb of the city of Coffs Harbour. It has a community hall and a primary school. The name Lowanna is an Aboriginal language word meaning "girl". Lowanna had a station on the now closed Dorrigo railway line....

Head to Bangalore Falls picnic area and follow the short walking track to see beautiful cascading waters. Then, continue riding through lush subtropical rainforest to Urumbilum picnic area. Admire the majestic hoop pines, lush subtropical rainforest and spectacular gorge scenery along the way. Take a moment to explore Urumbilum Creek gorge below the picnic area on foot. The spectacular waterfall that drops away into a large, natural amphitheatre and deep pool makes for great photography....

Orara Escarpment 4WD touring route is a short 80 kilometre round-trip from Coffs Harbour, yet it takes you through remote eucalypt forests and subtropical rainforests. With plenty of picnic and swimming spots along the way, it makes for an ideal family day trip. Climb over 600 metres as you make your way up the Orara Escarpment, then drive through rainforest and eucalypt forest to the spectacular Bangalore Falls. Stand on the lookout, listen to the waterfall, and take in the dramatic views. Stop for a picnic here, or continue through subtropical rainforest to Urumbilum picnic area. Make sure you take a short walk downstream to discover Urumbilum Falls. Head back through tree ferns, hoop pine and cabbage tree palms on Range Road and see magnificent old-growth forest along Langleys Road. If you enjoy birdwatching, keep your eyes out for lyrebirds, bush turkeys and glossy black-cockatoos along the way....
