Razorback Ridge Wines is located in the picturesque Macarthur region south of Sydney. It is an hour's drive from Sydney, 40 minutes from Wollongong and minutes from Camden.

This is a small family-run vineyard and cellar door. The first vines were planted in 2000. Varieties grown include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Verdelho. All fruit is hand-picked. Wines are made on site in the winery.

Visitors can relax in the lovely rural setting overlooking the vineyard and pastures while enjoying wine tasting, cheese platters, dips and local olives.

Self-guided walking tours through the historic village of Menangle, in the birth place of Australian agriculture and First Fleet Cowpastures. This village was a part of the Macarthur's ground-breaking Camden Park Estate founded in 1805 and it was the leader in wool, wine, brandy, milk and butter in the early days of the colony. It was the first pastoral company in Australia and was a major exporter, growing to 28,000 acres by 1830. The St Marks Church is situated in Church Street in the village of Appin. Building on the church commenced in 1840 and St Marks was consecrated in 1843. The stone walls are an attractive pale golden colour and the church now has a corrugated iron roof. There is a small cemetery with burials dating from 1840 onwards. Broughton Pass offers its best views after periods of heavy rain when the Cascade Waterfall, upstream from the bridge and weir, spills its waters into the Cataract River. The Broughton Pass Weir was built in the early 1880s and was part of the Upper Nepean Water Supply Scheme. Access is via Wilton Road just south of Appin. There is no access to the weir area as it is a restricted area of Sydney Water Catchment....

Walking and bike tracks, waterfalls and rock pools; Dharawal National Park near Helensburgh, an important place for Aboriginal people, is a great place to spend the day. Dharawal National Park offers a diverse bushland experience in southern Sydney. Sustained by a distinctive network of creeks, including the ecologically-important O'Hares Creek catchment, this leafy park is of great significance to the Dharawal Aboriginal people and protects a number of special Aboriginal sites. The park’s ancient landscape is a contrast of tall eucalypts, heaths, swamps, waterfalls and rockpools. There’s plenty to see and do for the day; take a short walk to Maddens Falls, stop by Stokes Creek for a swim and picnic lunch or ride your mountain bike along one of the park’s trails. Dharawal National Park is one of NSW's newest, so NPWS is working to provide additional low key facilities for your enjoyment. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for wildlife among the eucalypt trees, frogs and the diverse birdlife flitting through the park’s trees, swamps and skies....

Cataract Dam may be impacted by bushfires in the region. Please note that conditions in Wollondilly may change over the Christmas period. Before undertaking any travel, please visit the NSW Rural Fire Service website to check affected areas and road closures. Cataract is the oldest and possibly the most picturesque dam in Sydney's water supply system. Completed in 1907, the 56 metre high dam holds water from a 130 square kilometre catchment, forming an 850 hectare lake with a capacity of 94,300 megalitres. The dams of the Upper Nepean collect water from the catchments of the Cataract, Cordeaux, Avon and Nepean rivers, which are tributaries of the Upper Hawkesbury-Nepean River. These systems supply water to the Macarthur and Illawarra regions, the Wollondilly Shire, and metropolitan Sydney. Facilities include picnic shelters, electric barbecues, drinking water, toilets, disabled toilets, playground and viewing areas....

Named after the village of Appin in Scotland, this historic town dating back to 1811 is one of the earliest colonial villages in the colony of Sydney. In 1824, explorers Hume and Hovell commenced their expedition to Port Phillip from this district, and a monument stands on the road from Campbelltown commemorating the beginning of that journey. Today, Appin has many colonial buildings to admire including the Appin public school, historic churches, and the Old Rectory. Enjoy the rugged beauty of the area on the drive between Appin and Douglas Park, through Broughtons Pass and crossing the Cataract River and Cataract Dam. For some of the best gorge views, make tracks to Dharawal National Park and O'Hares Creek lookout. Located within easy reach of Appin, Campbelltown and Wollongong, it’s a great family day trip, with excellent opportunities for wildlife-spotting and birdwatching. To access the lookout, you’ll need to walk along O'Hares Creek lookout walking track through unspoilt bushland, where you’ll pass forests of scribbly gums and tall scrub. The views from the lookout are spectacular; scenic gorge views into O'Hares Creek with picturesque rockpools far below. Take your binoculars and make the most of your vantage point with a spot of wildlife and birdwatching. Keen eyes might even glimpse a koala asleep in the branches of a gumtree. Soak in the tranquillity and wide open spaces before retracing your steps....

If you’re looking to take your mountain bike out for a long ride, 10B cycling trail offers the perfect day out. At 15 kilometres long, it starts near the Appin Road entrance of Dharawal National Park and follows an unsealed road through open forest and woodlands along a sandstone ridge. This is a great bike ride for small groups and families with older children. The last three kilometres present more of a challenge, when the trail descends into Stokes Creek Gorge, leading to a good slog back up to the park’s northern entrance at Wedderburn. Pack a picnic and your binoculars because at the creek crossing, there’s a broad rock platform where you can stop for a break. Birds, including the raucous yellow-tailed black cockatoo, inhabit the area....
