You can take in nearly every picturesque vista imaginable on your journey to Elliott Heads - small crops, sugarcane, rural settings with cows and paperbark trees all feature along the road to your beachside destination. Where the river meets the sea it's the best of both worlds, calm still water swimming on one side (watch the current), or the absolute pleasure of diving headfirst into the waves of the Southern Great Barrier Reef just 100 meters away. The beach is patrolled from September to May but relatively safe to swim at other times and there is heaps of parking for anyone towing a caravan or boat. There are two eating options here, or you can 'bring your own' with a picnic or barbecue and the beach is connected to the Coral Coast pathway which winds all the way from Elliott Heads to Burnett Heads but shorter walks and strolls along the foreshore are just a lovely way to start or end your day. As part of Bundaberg's Coral Coast, Innes Park features beautiful natural environmental experiences with fishing and scuba diving off the popular Barolin Rocks site. There are various reef breaks along this coast, get the low down from the locals. You can find some good rock fishing the length of the coast, as well as in the small creek at Innes Park site. The Esplandade features a large park with barbecue facilities and there are two small beaches or a creek if you decide you want a dip. Innes Park is located 15 kilometres east of Bundaberg City and makes a great day exploration or there is accommodation close by at Elliott Heads (two kilometres away) or Bargara (nine kilometres away). ...

Elliott Heads is a 15 minute drive from Bundaberg Central Business District and is surrounded by rural cane and small crop farms. Head down to the shoreline and dip your toes into the refreshing patrolled surf beach, or drop your boat in for a fish at Riverview. The sandstone cliffs form an interesting headland whilst the rocky foreshore is fun to explore. Head up the river a little bit to find your own beach paradise but be careful of high tides! Be careful of shifting holes and shoals out on the sand flats. Elliott Heads is the popular with jet-skiers and kite-surfers as well as local fishermen.
