The Milton Theatre is an intimate 200 seat historic theatre which has been fully refurbished with latest sound and lighting equipment; it has great ambience and excellent acoustics, suitable for live performances, plays, opera and dance. Situated 260 kilometres south of Sydney in the Milton-Ulladulla area. Originally the Milton School of Arts built in 1927; the Milton Theatre has a long history as a major feature of the Milton community landscape. It was a picture theatre from 1929 with dancing and other community events and activities. From 1976 until 1993 the theatre was used solely as a movie theatre until it was closed for extensive renovations. These were carried out in 1997 and the theatre has been managed by a community based management committee under the Shoalhaven City Council. The building is now used for live theatre, a recording studio and for community performances.
Millhouse Art Gallery is set in the beautiful town of Milton and displays works by local artists whose range of expertise covers the traditional to contemporary. One Track for All has four lookouts providing spectacular views of the coast and harbour. It tells the story of the southern Shoalhaven Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal history, from an Aboriginal prospective. The Aboriginal walking track has been constructed in a way that from a higher vantage point or from the air the two halves appear as two large goannas, with four carved platforms for some of the best views of the Ulladulla Harbour. It is a cultural trail that will delight all, with the stories illustrated with carvings and paintings by local Aboriginal Elder Noel Butler, linking indigenous culture with white man history. This unique heritage track has been carefully constructed to provide assisted wheelchair, pram and bicycle access. There is disabled access parking at the track head and there is space for buses to drop off passengers and park nearby.
The Coomee Nulunga Cultural Trail travels through low windswept heath, capturing a living sculpture by the moods and breezes of the Pacific Ocean. The sculpture of Corroboree Man, Bulan Yuin welcomes all to the trail. Throughout the trail, many Garawanda Daran (Dreaming Poles) have been positioned. The Dreaming Poles depict the many species of flora and fauna found in this area and each pole has the Aboriginal name of the flora or fauna displayed. The trail eventually makes its way to the beach, winding through the last contours in the way of the Rainbow Serpent, the creator in Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.
